Tainted beauty

For a woman, life is a battle and beauty is her machine gun. But what is beauty? Some would define beauty as being physically attractive others would define it as the quality of being appealing to the senses and so many other definitions.
Well, I happened to be in a philosophy class sometime back and I came across this guy Plato, an idealist..he argues that objects and qualities e.g cats, beauty, chairs, love, etc exist in their original, pure, and ideal forms in another realm and what we see in our world are just imitations or copies. That's why someone or something can be beautiful to you but not beautiful to someone else( Beauty lies in the hands of the beholder) also that's why there are different types of cats, chairs, and dogs because they are all copies of the real and ideal object. That's Plato's theory of forms, debatable and a topic for another day.
The modern idea of a beautiful woman has been comprised. These days a perfectly beautiful woman should have light flawless skin, an hourglass figure, breathtaking smile. She should dress in a particular way and also that walking style should be on point. Make-up has boarded the train and it came with strict instructions on how it should be done..it must be done right, they call it blending..if they see where your make-up ends and your face begins then you're doing it all wrong.
There's a certain standard that has been set and a lot of women are having self-esteem issues, and battling depression and others choose the dangerous route all for that look. For those that can't afford such, they are considered less attractive, too natural, and old fashioned
But is all that necessary? no one needs to define your beauty..we are all beautiful in our own right..those imperfections, that uniqueness...It should be flaunted, that's what defines us. Struggling to be someone you're not is soo heinous..you can't be jumping from one slimming tea to the next or from a failed butt enhancer to the next..lets us embrace ourselves!
No matter what we do, people will still criticize, lose that weight and they will joke that you dodge raindrops, you gain and you're too large, too short, too tall, too this, too that. We all should just do what makes us happy and wear what makes us comfortable..let us stop trying too hard to impress other people.
We are all beautiful..maybe if we concentrated more on personalities and less on appearance..beauty would have a different meaning.
